1Man Brand Logo1Man Brand is an introductory sales and marketing course for small businesses. It was developed out of an event called One Man Brand which was aimed at individual consultants who have to promote themselves, but often don't know how. The version we promote today is the one specified by Prime, an organisation that is charged with developing the business skills of the over 50s. This version consists of the 4 modules - What's your story, telling it face to face, telling it online and telling it in writing.

The full version contains some other modules on PR, Market Research, Copywriting and CRM and Workshops and exhibitions. It's all based on our experience of carrying out this activity in 4 companies over 25 years.

Why do you need it?

If you're a growing company you may need to know specifically about these things like market research and new product development, more advanced use of PR and how to run exhibitions and workshops properly. An over view of the full programme is given in this video clip.

Market Research and New Product Development

In today's market companies need to re-invent themselves every two or three years. Part of this constant innovation is making sure that you have the right products available. The first half of this module describes a simple, practical procedure for holding dialogue with your existing customers to help with this process. The remainder of the module unpacks for you the tools and approaches available to you and used by professional market researchers. It's written from an industrial product, business to business point of view and is based on experiences as a market research practioner stretching over a total of about 10 years.The author is an Associate of the Market Research Society.

PR

The bones of PR from the perspective of an MD used to making PR work in a small business context. In 2 parts. The first half covers what you can practically do as small organisation yourself. The second part is based on what the professionals have in their bag of tricks and what you should do if you decide to buy in PR services. Based on 25 year's experience, it passes on tips from the PR manuals of SUN, Ukonline4Business and the CIM about how the professionals do it. Includes useful example press releases and press campaign planning tool.

Copywriting and Database marketing

Useful module which covers the principles of copywriting from a direct mail perspective but also looks at web copy. Covers psychological issues and draws heavily on the ideas of Bob Cialdini who's book "Influence - science and practice" we strongly recommend. Finishes with a review of the basics of database marketing and a summary of the legal obligations database and email marketing nowadays brings in it's wake.

Exhibitions and Workshops

Useful summary of how to run workshops and appear at exhibitions. The author did 4 shows a year for 15 years and has been running workshops for the last 20. So we've made all the usual mistakes often enough. If you need a practical guide to success - look no further.
